Elementary school named for assistant superintendent
Full Description:
The Socorro Independent School District recently broke ground on a new elementary school campus that will serve a fast-growing swath of Horizon City.
Dr. Sue A. Shook Elementary is named in honor of a longtime educator who retired from the district as assistant superintendent for instruction in June 2003, a few months before she died of cancer.
The campus will serve students from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. It is located on 25 acres of land on Paseo Del Este, near Darrington Road in Horizon City.
